Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph Marcelas Owens. A healthcare activist since the age of 10, he is now a page for Washington State Senator Pramila Jayapal. After speaking for more than a year after the death of his mother, Marcelas stood next to President Obama when he signed the Affordable Care Act.
Comic Conventions have always fascinated me. The devotion of the fans, the dedication to creating a character for them, and the time spent making outfits. They also seem to cross all boundaries of age, from children to retirees. Last month, I went to the Emerald City Comic Con to capture some of the members of this unique sub-culture. A recent assignment I had for the Service Employee's International Union for National Adjunct Walkout Day at Seattle University.
Recently, I was assigned to cover a visit by a group of Sephora Beauty Consultants from Italy to the Clarisonic Headquarters in Redmond, WA. The trip included the opportunity for the Beauty Consultants to build their own devices. Accompanying video piece coming soon.
Some recent work I did for Real Change. Hopefully more to come from past work.
